Walking Woman eBook Jay Jackson
Mr. Jackson has written a fantastic thriller. While I liked his first book, Killing King, a lot, this one was even better. The bad guy was somehow less scary and nightmare inducing, while still creepy and psychotic. I love his character development - no one escapes dimensions, even the sleazy big city lawyer! I also love all the references to real places, especially in Atlanta, that evoke a mental image in a person familiar with the area described. However, his descriptions of other places I am not familiar with are just as evocative. I can see the fields and bog-land leading to the river in Gratis, and I love the image he refers to several times of the broken side-walks in Virginia Highlands, and how the new homeowners gentrifying their neighborhoods with manicured lawns are still bordered by a municipality that isn't quite keeping up. In all, a really good, well-written, even funny suspense novel.Product details

Walking Woman eBook Jay Jackson Reviews
A small town full of quirky characters and a few twists and turns to keep the story flowing and hold my interest. I enjoyed reading a mystery that also made me chuckle.
Wow...right from the beginning I was hooked! What a pleasure getting reacquainted with "old friends" from Gratis while meeting many new and even more colorful ones with their own story to tell!
Early on I found this story to be rolling at 1080P high definition in the theater of my mind! A skillful piece of storytelling that centered itself more as a "Why-done-it" than a "Who-done-it", I found myself unable to "turn off the projector ".
So be warned...once you start reading, you won't stop! I look forward to the next time Delroy's phone rings from another new client with what is sure to be a unique set of legal representation needs...aren't they always?
The first book was awesome. I loved the characters and the town. Reading Walking Woman felt like coming home to old friends. It is very well written and once I started reading, I couldn't put it down. There are parts that are literally laugh-out-loud funny. I can't wait for the next one and the next one.
With a town full of misfits and deviates, this book is definitely entertaining. You'll get so caught up in the characters and their unpredictable natures you'll almost forget there is a plot. Kudos to the author for bringing it altogether and tying up all the loose ends.
What Jackson accomplishes with this second novel set in Gratis is a wonderfully slow, steady, and fascinating unfolding of a truly unique character, the Walking Woman.
From her first introduction to her final scene the character of the Walking Woman defies conventions - both conventions of fiction and conventions of society.
A book both disturbingly dark and curiously hopeful. The story and namesake character continuously surprise. In the end, a truly good read.
I was pleasantly surprised by this story. The cover gives the impression that it's women's fiction, but it's not. It's filled with suspense and mystery. It has the feel of Arsenic and Old Lace, with the two strange sisters living remotely from the rest of the town. They have secrets, as well as Mister Brother and his family that's not quite right. There are humorous moments and other times your heartstrings will be tugged. It's a story I didn't want to put down.
Edited Dec 9 I like the new cover much better. )
Walking Woman (Gratis Book 2) by Jay Jackson is a kindle scout book I won and it is a better win than most. It is about a small town lawyer and the strange people and things going on. Of course he is one of the strange ones too. It is a very interesting story and I didn't read the first book but I didn't get lost in this one. Great character building, I think I could paint a picture or pick these people out of a line up. I feel I know these strange strangers. The world building was even better. The plot was great. Great book. Not what I was expecting but happy with it anyway.
